We regularly get asked to provide an estimate or idea of price on how much it would cost to change a misted window/s. Whilst there are various factors that affect the price, we have worked out that the following basic estimate guide is a reasonably accurate way to provide one..

The factors that influence the cost are: how big the window is; how many are to be replaced on the 'job'; how it's fitted (either internal or external beaded); geographic location and the the type of glass. Therefore, taking an example of 3 windows to change comprising one window measuring 1.2m x 0.8m and two others measuring 500mm x 600mm.

A. All glass is costed by the square metre (sq/m). To ascertain the size of your window measure height and width in metres/millimeters and multiply together. In the example above, the first window would be 1.2 x 0.8 = 0.96 sq/m and the other two would 0.5 x 0.6 = 0.3 sq/m

B. Assumming that it's plain glass (not toughened) and internally beaded the first unit would be 0.96 x £115 = £110.40. This is the estimate for one window being fitted on a single visit. For the other two remaining units the cost per sq/m reduces to £80 so we would have 0.3 x £80 x 2 (for the two units) which would be £48. Hence, the estimate to replace all 3 windows would be £110.40 + £48 = approx £160.

This price would include all materials, labour, vat and delivery plus safe & responsible disposal of the old windows. They are covered by a 5 year guarantee from date of fitting.

Having changed 1000's of sealed units over the years, the above estimate method is accurate to 5-7%. If you have toughened glass, it adds £10 sq/m.
